2-Minute Snowman Candy Dish

Seriously, it took me literally two minutes to do this! I JUST finished this project. Just uploaded the picture.

You'll need:

  •  A plain vase, bowl, candle holder, anything glass.
  • Old white/cream/ivory sweater
  • Two black buttons
  • Triangle of orange felt/tissue paper/fabric for the nose.
  • Black pen. (Fabric or sharpie) for the mouth.
  • Hot glue/glue gun

Cut part of a sleeve off of your sweater. Slip it around the glass. Glue bottom edges of the sweater to the bottom of your glass. Glue eyes and the nose. Dot the mouth on. Fill with candy. You could also add a scarf around Jack Frost's "neck" if you'd like:)

Happy Thrifting!

This past Saturday, I wanted to check out the thrift store by my house. I dropped Trey & Doogie off at the park and headed to the thrift store. I was surprised to find tables and tables full of clothes outside. When I got there Karen (the owner) told me all the clothes on the outside tables and racks were free. Yes, FREE. As in, she gave me some boxes, told me to fill them up and stick them in my car. Turns out, she did something special for Black Friday. She gave away eight truckloads of clothes and shoes and then sent even MORE to the needy in the Phillipines. How nice of her! Since she had a bunch of stuff left, she continued giving things away all day Saturday. I was so happy I chose to visit her that day! I desperately needed sweaters. Our house has been getting so cold lately. (Cold for Hawaii, anyway.) I literally have NO warm clothes. Until now. I got 20+ sweaters, a work shirt for D and a few plain shirts for myself. All for FREE! The sweaters were in great condition, some even name brand. They were just a few sizes too big. (Mostly larges and I'm a small.) No problem. I took them home and took the sides and arms in. The fit me perfectly now. I'll probably post pictures and tutorials tomorrow. Just thought I'd share! Oh- also, some of the sweaters will be used for other things as well. Decorations, pillow cases. We'll see! Goodnight!

Christmas Trees for Free!

Seen these all over pinterest. Fabric covered cones. I made my cones out of paper and hot glued fabric  flowers, petals and pearls to them. Stuck them on a candle stick holder and that's it! These White and maroon ones go on my kitchen counter and I have some red, gold and green ones to go on my desk.

Handprint Snowmen Ornaments.

I see this all over the internet and its such a cute idea! Not to mention, you can do this every year and watch as the snowmen "grow" along with your child's hands.

1- Cover child's hand with white acrylic paint. Of course, you can use whatever color you want,  but snowmen are white;)
2- Carefully place the ornament (I used plastic ones) onto your child's hand and tell him/her to squeeze.
3- Make sure when they release their grip, they don't smear the paint.
4- Place in egg carton upside down to dry.
5- Once dry, use a black Sharpie to make the hats and the face and an orange Sharpie to make the nose.
6- Write child's name, year and age on the bottom with a Sharpie.
7- Tie with a ribbon and hang it wherever you'd like!
I'm thinking this might also make a great gift for grandparents.

Feel Better Soon Card by Trey!

Daddy's feeling sick so while he was resting, Trey and I made him a "Feel Better Soon Card."
White paper, red-cross shape, 2 bandaids and googly eyes! I helped Trey write the little note:)

Trey's Bedtime Nook

Trey has his own room; which is strictly for his clothes and toys. I can't bear the thought of putting him in his own room across the hall. From the day I gave birth to him, I wake up numerous times throughout the night to check on him. No way am I ready for him to sleep alone in a separate room. However, he DOES have his own bed. What kid doesn't want a cool nook to sleep or hang out in? So..... Creative juices flowing, I cleaned out the closet in our bedroom, (the closet in Trey's toy room is my craft closet) and stuck his toddler bed in there. Added some sheer drapes and some wall art (which is just songs I photo-shopped and printed out and framed), some lights and a floating shelf to house his current bedtime story and a canvas quote I made. He thinks it's the coolest thing! He likes to close the curtains and pretend we're in a spaceship:)
Now for some pictures....

The colors are black and white since our theme colors for our room and bathroom is black and white with a splash or plums and purple accents.

Thanks for viewing!

Now on to my next project..... MAJOR Christmas decorating!

Handprint Turkeys

Not very original, but I still love this idea. Thinking of doing this every year to compare his growth.

Fingerprint Tree

Trey's itty bitty fingerprints. I framed this and put it on display. A piece of artwork to look back upon when he's older.

Thanksgiving Corner

We were pressed for time when it came to decorations.  We did a few.  Trey made a fingerprint tree and some handprint turkeys.

We were sick! Homemade soup & "Get Better Tea" recipes.

Yeah, we've been M.I.A. for the last week because T, D and I were sick! A chest cold. Glad to say we're feeling a lot better! Perfect in time for Thanksgiving:)

Of course, while we were sick, I pumped the boys with OJ and made some homemade chicken noodle soup in the crock pot. I also made what Trey calls my "Get Better Tea".

Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup

This is my own made-up recipe. I never measure; just eyeball.
Feel free to add pretty much anything you'd like to this recipe. Very versatile.

You'll need:
  • 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, defrosted, of course. Diced.
  • 1 can of chicken broth. I used chicken bouillon.
  • Bag of baby carrots OR 2-3 or TEN- haha- regular peeled carrots.
  • 1-2 diced potatoes. Red, russet, whatever you want or have on hand.
  • Celery. I used 4 sticks of celery.
  • 1/2 cup of diced onions.
  • 1 box of noodles. (We used bow-tie noodles)

Now here's the hard part. Throw everything into your crock pot/slow cooker. Season to your liking. Put it on low. Cover. Sit and for a few hours. (When the chicken is cooked). Serve up and eat. Told you it was hard!

"Get Better" Tea
Baby T drinking his "Get Better" tea.

Super easy, and you probably already have the ingredients on hand.

You'll need:
  • Half a small ginger root. Grated.
  • 1 Chamomile tea tea bag. Or green tea.
  • Honey
  • Lemon juice.

Heat water. Pour into mug. Add tea bag and ginger. Steep. Add honey & lemon juice to taste. Remove tea bag. You can either scoop out the ginger or drink it with the tea. 3x daily and you'll feel a lot better!

Homemade {Breakfast} Hot Pockets

Okay, so this may not look appetizing, but I promise, it is! I hate store bought Hot Pockets. It tastes so fake and it's not very good for you. So T and I decided to make our own:)

You'll need cooked eggs and cooked breakfast meat. We used Canadian bacon. You'll also need some shredded cheese and some frozen roll dough.

  1. Slice the eggs and meat.
  2. Open dough and separate pieces. Flatten dough.
  3. Slap the eggs on there.
  4. Now add the meat.
  5. Then pile on the cheese.
  6. Now fold and bake at 375 degrees until cheese is melted and dough is a light golden brown.
  7. Enjoy!

Homemade Halloween Costumes

So I know Halloween was 2 weeks ago, but I wanted to share our homemade costumes. I love DIY. I'm all about using things we already have to create something you can find in store-but better and cheaper. Trey asked to be Woody for Halloween. Okay, cool. We went to Walmart and Target and found this Woody costume.

For $33! I don't know about you, but I definitely didn't want to spend that much on a cheapie one piece costume with sweat-prone fabric. Of course, I immediately started thinking of all the things I have in my home that could be used to create a Woody costume on the cheap. Trey already had boots and a gun and holster. I had a long sleeved button down (orange at that, haha!) that Trey used under a vest last Thanksgiving. I planned on dying that a golden color with some fabric dye which I found for $1.99 at Walmart. I also found a cowboy accessory set at Walmart in the Halloween department for $5. It came with a hat, sheriff badge, red bandanna and belt buckle.

Now, onto the "how to."

  • Follow instructions on your fabic dye packaging and dye your plain button shirt.
  •  When it's dyed and dried, iron it and lay it as flat as you can get it on a hard surface. Insert a cardstock paper (or any other thick paper/cardboard) into the shirt so the fabric pen does not bleed through.
  • Use your ruler and red fabric marker and draw lines all over the shirt. I looked at Trey's Woody doll for guidance.

It all came out better than I had expected and we spent less than $10 on his costume and nothing on ours!

Apple Biscuit Wraps

Okay, so "Apple Biscuit Wraps" don't sound all that appetizing. But Trey and I don't know what else to call them. He woke me up this morning asking me for apples. I didn't want him to eat just a plain old apple for breakfast, how boring! I also didn't want him eating a pie for breakfast and let's face it, I was too lazy to make some pie dough. We had some canned biscuit dough in the fridge so we made these:)

First we cut the apple (the easy way)

Then cubed them. (Kind of) hah.

Added sugar, which Trey called "snow!"

And then some brown sugar (YUM!)

I had Trey mix it together.

Got out the biscuit dough. (I hate opening these things! They scare me.)

Broke them apart and flattened out the pieces. I had Trey scoop the apple-sugar mixture onto the flattened biscuit dough for me.

Rolled them up and put them on a Pam-sprayed cookie sheet. Threw them in the oven at 380 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

Took them out; they smelled soooo good!

Trey ran up to the (cooled) plate and took the first piece.

In the end, it came out pretty good!

T loves the park!

It's always been one of our favorite places to take him. Although, sadly, mama usually has to stay home and work while daddy takes Trey to the park:) I'm lucky I got to go on this trip!

This is US:)

-Mama T- is what Trey calls me. I'm a 21 year old work at home mama. I have an online Bowtique as well as a design site. I'm engaged to my high school sweetheart of seven years. Together, we live a happy life with Trey, our two doggies, our cat and our goldfish.

-Boogie Boo- is what I call Trey. The smartest, funniest, cutest kid ever! He never fails to brighten my day! We love being crazy together and run around the house playing chase. Arts and crafts are a favorite pastime for us as well. I can't imagine loving anyone more than I love T.

First Post!

Yay! I've been wanting to make a blog on blogspot for soooo long! I haven't had the time. Hell, I STILL don't have the time. But, whatever! This will pretty much be a blog about the crafts and everyday adventures I go through with my monster of a toddler:) Also, family time and pictures. Great DIY ideas, fun food recipes and more. Enjoy!
